September Newsletter Online

Post by john_hanson on Fri Sep 04, 2009 4:29 pm

Hi Gang!

We're trying something new this month here at BARC. We're having a digital edition of our monthly newsletter. It is available to view below

It is a little dog orientated this month, and I do sincerely hope to remedy this in time for next months edition. So to all those cat people, rabbit lovers, and guinea pig fans, I will endeavor to make it up to you in due course. Please get in touch with me with your stories/pictures and I will try to balance things out next month. There's definitely room for improvement, so please post your suggestions below. Apologies to all those who I didn't consult about the content. The intention was there but the time was not. Yes, that means you Julie...

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little glimpse in to what we do. If you wish to know more, we have a much more comprehensive newsletter that is available for a small subscription fee. It doesn't cost much, and all proceeds go straight in to caring for our lovely animals.

John

Hi John, great news letter!

I cant do mutch in the lines of volunteering other than dog walking (hence being up at stupid O'clock). BUt maybe I could try and save a bit of money to go towards the exercise yard.

Have you any rough idea how mutch it may cost?

We are trying to get quotes for it to be turfed. The turf is not that expensive but the prep and laying seem to be. We had a quote last year for almost 1000!

Im hoping we can get it done for a bit less than that this year!

The quote was actually for 1400 for everything doing. I have rung around several local firm for quotes, unfortunately none seem interested and have not returned my calls. Like wise we appealed to some of the larger DIY companies for damaged goods, end of range goods, oddments anything that we could use to improve the yard for the dogs in our care, we were willing to pay for a bargain, out of the 5 companies we contacted not one even responded with a sorry NO letter, whatever happened to manners. Manners seem to be extinct these days. Im quite happy to ring Barnsley council to see if they have any spare turf laying around. They might have some now that its coming upto the end of summer. By the way - the newsletter looks great John Smile

Sean
Iv been doing alot of thinking about the exercise yard for the dogs down at the kennels. I bought my dad a 4x4 off road driving experiance for farthers day, that he doesnt realy want to do so iv asked for it back.

I was thinking that if I rang the company and had the voucher changed you could use it as a prize to raise funds towards the yard. Maybe do a raffle or competition in the Chronicle or Independent or even maybe Dearn FM would be willing to announce a competition on their radio, something of that like, im not very good at coming up with ideas, sorry, but if you think you could use it to raise funds, I would love you to have it. I just wish I had the money to pay for it myself.

The vouchers valid till April and it comes in a nice metal presentation box with keyring.

Also, iv got some things going in the Admag on wednesday (finaly got round to advertising that Vivarium) If they sell, I will donate this money as well.

If you need to speak to me you can ring me on 01226 751966 or ill just keep checking back on the forum.

Thats brilliant Sharon thanks. Im sure we could put the 4x4 experience to good use in the Christmas draw! Thank you!

As for anything else you raise, find, beg, borrow or steal, it will all be very gratefully received!

Thanks again, I will be in touch to sort this out with you.

Sean

Thanks for that Sharon

I have just been asked to generate a prize for a raffle at a 5 a side tournament that Sally Orwin has arranged for us at Aviva Kendray on the eve of Wednesday 30th September, at 6pm, kick off at 6.30. This sounds like a perfect opportunity.

If we could arrange to have it for then I would be most grateful.

Let me know if that is ok?

Thanks

Sean

4X4 Experiance day

Post by milliemoo on Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:32 am

Hiya Guys,
Milliemoo/Sally Orwin here,

teh 5 a side thing is really taking off, i think this could turn into an annual event Smile

Regarding the 4x4 eperiance day, rather than pay ten pounds and have the voucher reprinted why not just donate the ten pounds to BARC and leave it as it is - i can explain to the winner of this prizze the reason why it states happy farthers day on there and im sure it would not cause any problems what so ever - after all it is all for a great cause!! Smile

Also people - the 5 a side is at VIDA, Kendry playing fields and the kick off is at 6.30 so anyone who wants to coem along and cheer on the guys are more than welcome and THE BAR WILL BE OPEN!!!! Smile

Once i get all the prizes together (i could really do with sorting this by next friday) let me know if any6one wants to buy any tickets themselves and if they think they could flog a few to family and friends - every penny counts!!! Smile

Do we think it would be owrth while leaving a strip or two in the shops to sell?

Sally
