Tanzi came to us because her owner was unable to look after her any more .

When she was spayed it discovered that she had a big tumor in one of her uterine horns ( she was an old lady and domestic buns over 3 yrs old are prone to uterine cancer )

She came through the spay ok but sadly she stopped eating a few days ago . She slipped away on friday

So sorry Tanzi ... we tried to make you better im sorry your last days were taken up by being given meds and syringe feeds ...

We have had some terrible news today, Mowey was a little fluffy grey tabby about 1yr old, she sat in my mothers garden for hours on end and would sneak just inside the patio door to lie on the carpet in the sun, she belonged to a neighbour but didn't get along with the other cats in the house, so spent most days at my mothers. My mother doesn't like cats(traumatic incident when she was little) but would occassionally forget herself and give Mowey a little stroke, she fed her and watered her ...

Here's Fudge our latest foster, he is the most sweetest thing ever, he is very lazy when he's in his cage but when he's out in his run next to my lot, he's starting to come out of his shell. He never interacted or grazed but he is turning into a right little lawn mower and can squeak like the rest of them now!

He was enjoying a snuggle with Amelia.

This evening i went to pick the kids up from my mother's as i walked up the front path i saw a hedgehog on the front garden, I went in and brought the kids out to have a look, as we approached it didn't move it didn't curl it just sat there. This hedgehog was ill, not like Humphrey that fained illness to get fed, Herbert was not well, he had no fat on him at all. As my mother doesn't have any pets, we resorted to a tin of corn beef, rembering the wise words of Benson, i practically shredded ...

As Friday seemed to be the warmest day of the year we took Archie upto Paul's parents house for tea where we spent the night sitting in the garden drinking wine and having a good laugh. All of a sudden Archie sat bolt upright looking at the bird feeder which was standing about 10ft away from where he was laying. Sat there, helping himself to the bird food, was this little chap. Paul managed to get these photos on his phone before he got spooked and ran (the mouse, not Paul )

Hi, Im having real problems locating a guinea pig or pigs for my boy. I dont want to get them from a high street dodgy pet shop but there doesnt seem to be anyone local that has some.

I have made my boy prove to me he is sure about having a piggy and he has cared for his hamster extremely well for the last year with me not having to do anything to help him.

Obviously he will be supervised with a guinea pig but he will be the main carer.

look at what a cat got ...

She was found in a bad way in someones garden ... probably attacked by a cat.

She had 3 bites along her spine which have caused nerve damage . Because of this she lost use of one of her front legs and one of her ears has flopped over .

however ...this little girl..now named Bracken...is a fighter...and she is improving daily ..and shes such a friendly soul youd never believe she was wild ...

I just realised how much you can get the wrong end of the stick. One of the managers in work has a Briard girl and we got talking about grooming (it�s my issue of the week!!). So we�re waiting on a meeting starting and he was telling me that he has to get something around her neck and get her onto a garden bench. He ties her neck to the top of the bench and gets an elastic rope around her waist and ties that to the top of the bench too so she can�t sit down (By now the room is filling up) But, ...

Well, we have just returned from Royston Animal Welfare's summer gala, and our Nancy is sporting a lovely yellow 3rd place rosette for Adorable eyes, and yes for all you sinics (Benson) there were more than 3 dogs in it.

Sam didnt win anything but he has been exceptionally well behaved although we did muzzle him for about half-an-hour when he was a little hightened by all the commotion. He didn't have his muzzle on in the arena for Handsome hunk, and was really very good considering the amount ...

Have any of you guys studied grooming anywhere? I�d like to do a course to help me with Alfies crazy coat, plus the fact he hates being groomed and either runs away, yelps at the very sight of the comb and/or snaps at me. Now, I have not been mean or cruel to him but he does genuinely seem to have a sensitive skin, plus he was shaved off when he came to us because his coat had been in a state, so I guess that he didn�t have good early experiences.

Even taking him to the parlour isn�t the answer ...

We have another new foster arrival to join the Drabble guinea pig gang, today we went to Tracey's to collect a rather large fluffy male guinea called Spiro who is now called Fudge. Fudge is rather jumpy and easily upset at the moment, although when we got him home i sectioned a bit of the little un's run and put him out in the sun for a while, he resembled a tortoise at one point as he only had his head sticking out of the house, but was out grazing fully when i went to work. Last night Ian was taking the dogs out for there last walk of the night, when he shouted for me to come outside. Thinking there was a crisis - as i usually deal with them (except ), i went, only to discover a hedgehog on the path outside the gate. I brought the torch (wow i could find it!) and the hedgehog just sat there, it didn't curl, it didn't move, it just sat there. i was immediately worried because they usually curl or scurry, so i gave it a quick once over and it seemed a bit dazed ...

Hello, am new to BARC chat. We adopted a beautiful black and white 4 year old boy called Felix just over a week ago from Wath. He has settled in fantastically and is beginning to show his characteristics! He is very affectionate and when not sleeping (which is most of the time ) is my permanent shadow and follows me everywhere. He has begun to settle on our laps too over the last weekend which is fab.

I just heard a story from one of our friends who lives in Kent. He has a 6y old GSD who has always had a bit of an aggression problem with other dogs. He decided to take him to a behaviourist and this person advised using a rattle bottle and water spray. Apparantly it didn�t make any difference to the dog aggression (except it got a bit worse) but now he�s also aggressive to people carrying water bottles. Great! So, I guess the thing is beware of what advice you get and stick to people who only ...

Barney and Buzby had continued their reign of distruction - only minor but continuous, they have a big cage that they go in when Mossy and Kath are out and for use on a night. However while Mossy was out in the garden they decided to rip the wall paper off in the kitchen, this and many more little incidents has lead to Barney being enrolled in Puppy classes and Buzby in Good citizen classes. I will keep you all updated with this latest development at the Ryan-Moss house, but i have a feeling ...

Late last night i went to turn off the tank light when to my horror i saw that Tom Gurgle had got a huge lump of gravel stuck in his mouth, after feeding they regularly hoover the bottom of the tank and this is what had happened. Now my are treated when ill, have a nice tank, but i'm not a person at all, what to do, go to bed and leave husband to deal with the wriggley little thing - and he did, all is well in the Drabble tank today!

It's that time of year again when myself, Kath and Donna take the brood to Cleethorpes for a week, we will have the usual day out at Pleasure Island, where we leave the kids huddled together while we do the big rides even Donna partakes in these although when we went to Florida last year she was the designated bag and kid watcher while we did all the big rides, not that she was affraid or anything Mossy and me were kept apart and made to go on the rides at seperate times by our respective partners ...

Hi, I just wanted to share 2 pieces of encouraging news I had at the weekend. I took Alfie to the training class at Rother Valley and we had a different instructor this week. She was very good. She competes in obedience with her BCs.

Number 1. She said I should consider training Alfie up to compete � she thought he has great potential!! I mean � wow!! Our dopey mad Alfie!! Not something I�d ever thought about but really something to aim at!

Dogs in Rescue

Tonight I have attended another rescues monthly meeting, and one of the items was about two dogs that they have had returned back into there care by the people who adopted them. Both were homed as pups, and both have been returned at a simular age, the reason - both dogs have proved too boisterous for there owners.

One of the dogs keeps knocking the small children of the family over, not intentionally but regularly so this is the reason for his return.

We buy Archies food online at pet-supermarket.com cos is works out cheaper than the pet shop and we get free delivery as he is part of the puppy club. With him being part of this club I am sent a newsletter every month and one day I decided to enter a competition for a bit of a laugh really.

Last week I received an email saying I was one of this months winners and I am now the proud owner of a BiOrb tank . Im not too good with really and don't know much about them so Ive told Paul ...

Phone Trouble

During the week i had a spot of bother with my mobile, i sat on it and cracked the screen - its just one of the downsides of being BOOTYLICIOUS!

Unfortunately i cannot access any of my contacts as they were saved to the phone not the Sim card, and the cable that connects it to the computer doesn't work. Fortunately Mossy came to my rescue with his old phone so i'm having to wait until people text me so i can save their numbers, but the other day someone rang me but because i didn't know ...

I've done it now, i mentioned the dreaded m word (mites) and this morning I was checking them over and Chocolate and Daisy look like they are starting with them, Mites are not contagious every guinea pig has them, but something can trigger them off, fortunately they aren't as big a deal as they use to be, a few baths in Sporal D and a pipette of Xeno 450 and the jobs a good un! (apart from the cost of the Shampoo and Xeno 450, but i always have some in.)

Sorry everyone, things are a bit hectic around here at the moment and so I haven't had chance to post anything. Our 2 foster guinea's are doing really well and growing up fast, our 2 lodgers have arrived for 2 weeks, Biscuit and Snowy the guinea pigs arrived last night while my friend and her family go on holiday. Sam and Nancy had a bath yesterday with the assistance of Matthew, the twins from next door, Amelia and her friend Jade, and as the twins dog Maisie was at ours ...

Apparently guinea pigs don't like the rain, apparently they don't like the feel of wet squelchy ground, apparently they have sensitive feet and can be prone to foot disease, so would someone like to come and tell this to my lot who will carry on grazing regardless of how heavy its raining, that its dark and i look stupid in my pyjama's, wellies and umbrella waiting for them to go in their hutches, and especially Dandilion who only decided to go to bed when i tempted him with a tomato!

These are our two little foster babies, Pringle & Dorito, I'm not sure which is which, Tracey will have to identify them as we just call them the 'Little un's'.

Here they are trying celery for the first time since i've had them, they went down it in no time at all, so that's something else to go on their list of things they've tried.

They haven't really got devil eyes but their eyes are pink that's why they've shown up that colour, due to their mum & dad being fed ...

Amelia's trip

I have just done one of the hardest things ever, stood at the school gates and waved Amelia off on her first residential school trip to Edinburgh.

Last night as i tucked her up in bed, she looked at me with big saucer eyes, filling with tears, "I'm not sure i want to go mam." she said, "HUH, ya going, its paid for now" i joked but secretly releived.

We have two new arrivals in the Drabble household, two baby guinea pigs, we are fostering them for Angela and Tracey, the bunny girls of BARC.

We have had them for just over a week and they are coming along nicely. They have adjusted well to the chaos that is our garden, they spend longer out grazing than they do in their little house in the run, they are making lots of little crop circles in our long grass (thought i'd get that one in before Benson did!). They don't flinch when Matthew goes ...

Holiday recommendation

Hello all. We just came back from a great holiday so I thought I�d share the recommendation with you. We stayed in West Wales between Cardigan and Aberystwyth. The great thing was the cottage. It was about 100yds to walk to a gorgeous and dog friendly beach, and just across the road was Llanina Woods which was also great for dogs. Very dog friendly cottage and good for kids too. Thunder

The other day we had quite a loud thuder storm, this is the first we have had since adopting Sam.

Whilst Nancy, who is the more sensitive of the two, slept thru the entire storm, only waking to stretch out a bit more and then went straight back to sleep, Sam went from being laid back nothing bothers me (except other dogs) dog, into anxious, panting, pacing dog when he did finally lay down, he physically shook from head to paw.

I know that collies are exceptionally sensitive to storms and ...
